Select York RiverDogs
- The York RiverDogs are the YBA's representative in the Etobicoke Baseball Association (EBA) loop. The EBA is an official affiliate of the Select division of Baseball Ontario, the official governing body for Select baseball in the province of Ontario.
- Select teams are fielded at the 9U, 11U, 13U, 15U and 18U age levels.
- The Select season generally starts from mid to late April and ends in mid August. (Winter Workouts begins in early January and run to mid April once a week).
- At some levels there will be extra indoor workouts arranged by team coaches.
- EBA City Championship weekends are in mid August, with the chance to qualify for the Labour Day weekend Ontario Select Provincials tournaments.
- RiverDogs HOME games and practices are held at Smythe Park (15U and 18U games and practices may be scheduled at North Keelesdale Park).
- Game schedules are set by the appointed EBA Select convener for each age level.
- Baseball leagues included in the EBA Select loop are Annette, Bloordale, Martingrove, Royal York and Toronto Playgrounds. Half of our regular season games are played on Home field, half are Away games at our opponents' fields.
- Select teams typically have one game and one practice per week.
- Teams usually participate in one or two late Spring or Summer tournaments, in Toronto, the GTA or beyond (tournaments and locations are dependent on availability).
- YBA Select players in 9U, 11U and 13U MUST register and play in both House League and Select divisions during the regular season.
- YBA Select players in 15U and 18U MAY register and play in their House League division if they wish to, but do not have to.
- House League registration and division fees are separate from Select division fees.
- All fees help cover the costs of uniforms, field permits, insurance, umpire fees and tournaments (Select division).
- A YBA Select coach or official will notify players and parents/guardians when Select and House League online registrations open.
- York Baseball holds Select tryouts in the Fall. There may be a possibility of final tryout dates in the Spring, depending on roster spots availability.
